Training & Consultancy
Leeds Autism Services have over 25 years’ experience of supporting adults with autism in a range of settings including residential, domiciliary, vocation and community based support.
As an organisation we want to promote the idea that adults with autism can live fulfilled lives and make a positive contribution to society. We believe that increased understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum conditions is a major key to achieving this vision. Autism is a developing field and we are constantly increasing our theoretical knowledge and developing our range of interventions to support people with day to day living. We hope to share our knowledge and experience with others and hopefully help to shape a future where people with autism are better understood and accepted within society. Our training and consultancy packages are available to all and are tailor made to suit people and organisations. As a charity we are able to offer very competitive rates and always strive to ensure high quality and excellent value.
Our training and consultancy packages are flexible and are designed around your needs meaning that those taking part should get exactly what they require. Prior to any training or consultancy taking place we will consult with you or your organisation to ensure our support is tailored to your requirements.
Why Choose LAS Training and Consultancy?
As a charity our aim is to support individuals with autism in all areas of life, and that includes ensuring a better understanding of the condition, not only in the fields of health and social care but within the wider community. We know that being on the autism spectrum does not prevent people from making a valuable contribution to society, but a lack of understanding can have a detrimental effect on prospects for individuals. LAS hope that by increasing awareness of autism conditions we can also increase opportunities for people. We have 25 years of autism experience and ensure we keep up-to-date with current research and knowledge which means our training and consultancy packages are being constantly updated. As a non-profit organisation we are able to provide packages at very competitive rates and any surplus money is put back into providing resources for the people we support, so by choosing LAS you are not only helping your family or organisation, you are also helping others.
Who can LAS provide training and consultancy for?
We are able to deliver training and consultancy to anyone who wants to raise their awareness of autism amongst adults. We do not currently provide training specifically around the needs of children as our service provides support only to adults, however our training packages are designed to raise awareness of the condition regardless of age. Some people who we think may benefit from our training and consultancy packages may include:
- Adult day services
- Parents and carers
- Residential / supported living / domiciliary providers
- Local authorities (care / education / leisure etc.)
- Police forces
- NHS or private healthcare professionals
What type of training is on offer?
We offer a wide variety of autism awareness packages which are tailored to suit the requirements of individuals or organisations. Examples of some of the units we can provide include: Basic autism awareness, practical support, communication and autism, supporting autism and behaviour and the role of autism within society.
We can offer support to individuals and organisations to assist with implementation of autism strategies, assessment, care plan review or assisting people to cope with how autism affects them. We can also assist with helping employers or organisations to work out reasonable adjustments to settings in order to retain staff or students ensuring positive outcomes for all parties. From our experience, people with autism can achieve highly in all manner of different settings but many of the problems they experience comes from a lack of knowledge of their condition or how to deal with problems when they arise. We aim to provide practical solutions to problems such as these. How would consultancy be useful? Although we provide specialist services for adults with autism, we realise there are times when people may just need some additional input around their autism without requiring full time support. Whether this is in a family home, workplace, educational setting or residential / supported living setting we may be able to help.
