We can't thank you enough for supporting Leeds Autism Services and the work we do. We are thrilled to announce the girls successfully succeeded in their challenge and raised a whopping £587.50! Their fundraising means that we can now provide two free autism awareness training courses to families and carers, which we aim to deliver in Spring 2021. Following an autism diagnosis, families are carers often get very little training or information about autism. We have wanted to make sure that the families we work with are able to access free training for a long time, and now finally we'll be able to do it. Thank you so much to Megan and Olivia for making it happen! Michael's 'No Chick-anuary' Challenge Michael undertook the challenge giving up his favourite fried chicken throughout January. This was to help raise funds to improve our outdoor seating area at the VACS Grape Street base and also have our bicycles put through a service and repaired. He says "I wanted to eat healthier and help raise money for Leeds Autism Services at the same time because the staff team have done an amazing job to support everyone throughout the Covid-19 pandemic". Check out his 'No Chick-anuary' fundraising page. We are thrilled to announce, he successfully completed 31 days of no KFC and managed to raise a fantastic £151, exceeding his target amount. Well done Michael, we hope you enjoyed that first KFC after your superstar effort! LAS Virtual Walk Finally, we'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has taken part and submitted steps in our hugely successful Virtual Walk Challenge over the past 3 months. We started our journey back in November 2020 in our virtual starting point of Lands End in Cornwall. Since then we have walked, cycled and ran over 2 million steps! Making our way virtually across the country to complete 847 miles and reaching our finish point of John O'Groats in Scotland. All our wonderful service users, staff team, families, friends and supporters have made this event one to remember and helping us raise a total of £415! So we want to ask people who use our service what they would like to see the money spent on! We will be sending out a survey soon to find out your ideas. Celebrating Our Achievement We think everyone's hard work in making the Virtual Walk such a success, deserves some recognition. However, Covid restrictions means we are unable to hold a face-to-face party in our VACS bases. So we are issuing certificates of achievement to all participants and are planning to create a celebratory video showcasing our journey, which we will share on our website and social media pages. Please keep on submitting your photos and sponsorship forms for us so we can include them. We Made It! While the video is in production, we hope you enjoy our imaginary photo of some of the people who have taken part in our challenge, reaching the finish line of the John O'Groats sign post.
